Jamesville led off Friday’s 15U clash with Bath with four-straight hits. Logan Hale capped off the early onslaught with a two-run shot that put Jamesville ahead, 3-0, in the first.
Jamesville went on to score six of the game’s first seven runs. Bath’s one run in the early stages was a solo shot by Douglas Dixon in the bottom of the first.
Bath settled in by the third inning. Dixon relieved Ryan Cornelius after his rocky start. The defense behind him held Jamesville off as the offense mounted a comeback for a 7-6 win in their first game of the tournament.
The rally began in the third when Cornelius belted a hard-hit ball to left field that was too hot to handle. The opening was enough for two runs to come across. Matthew Adams then knocked a base hit through the left side to plate Cornelius, cutting Jamesville’s lead to 6-4.

Bath used routine plays and some momentum-shifting efforts to keep Jamesville off the board. The infield was able to field cleanly, and catcher Carter Boyd gunned down a Jamesville runner trying to steal second base.
Still trailing by two, though, Bath opened the bottom of the fifth with its first six batters reaching safely. Tyler Modlin singled to left field then stole second. Cam Craig drew a four-pitch walk, then both moved up a base on a failed pickoff attempt.
Dixon plopped a base hit into shallow left field to score Modlin, but Craig was thrown out at home.
Dixon came across for the tying run thanks to a single off of Boyd’s bat. Adams rounded and tried to come home, but thought better of it and dove back to third. The attempt to throw him out was out of reach of Jamesville’s third baseman, and Adams was able to get up and scamper in to give Bath the lead.
Jamesville led off with consecutive singled Hale and Luke Taylor. The two moved up a base, putting their side within striking distance of tying the game, on Jameson Perry’s sacrifice bunt. However, Dixon struck out the next two batters to strand the two.
Bath was unable to extend its lead in the top of the seventh, but the one-run advantage proved enough.
