Chocowinity’s 12U all stars unloaded on Bath in Saturday morning’s meeting between the county rivals. Shawn Gerard highlighted a 14-run opening frame in a 18-1 win for Chocowinity. Gerard took the plate with the bases loaded and blasted a grand slam over the left-field fence.

The shot also plated Omari Knight, Lucas Cutler and C.J. Elks to push Chocowinity’s lead to 11-0 with none out in the first.
Bath found its way onto the scoreboard in the top of the second. After going three up, three down in the first, Brandon Arthur drew a leadoff walk, but was thrown out at second on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Tres Cherry.
Carson Clinkscales, Shane Biggs and Jordan Harding each reached via walk to bring in Bath’s first run before Walker Hill notched his second strikeout of the inning to leave the bases loaded.
Gerard led off the second inning with another home run. This time it was a solo shot also to left field. Bath struck out the next two batters, but then issued back-to-back walks to Jody Pierce and Hill. Will Rose then added three runs to the scoreboard when he sent a shot of his own over the fence.
Bath got a single from Eli Huynh in the third, but that was all its offense would muster before the end of the game.
