ENGELHARD — Hyde County Hotline is gearing up for its seventh-annual gala fundraiser this November.

This year’s event is going country and will tip a hat to southern culture with its “A Giddy-Up Gala” theme. Slated for Nov. 18, at the Davis Center in Engelhard, the gala kicks off at 6 p.m. It will feature a silent auction, live auction, food, mechanical bull and music by DJ JM.

Hyde County Hotline is an organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence in the county and strives to eliminate violence altogether. It operates a 24-hour line for those who need assistance.

Proceeds from “A Giddy-Up Gala” will go toward the organization. Last year’s gala featured an “Old-Fashioned Christmas” theme and was held in December. Hyde County Hotline also hosts the annual Race Across the Lake at Lake Mattamuskeet in the spring.

“With the Gala growing each year, so does the amount of money that we are able to raise. Here at Hotline, every penny matters and makes a difference,” wrote Logan Mooney, who works with the hotline, in an email. “With the money that we are able to raise, we are able to provide more and more services to victims of domestic violence and sexual victimization.”

Tickets for the November event are $55 per person, or $100 for a couple. Tickets are $30 for children 12 years old and under. A group can also reserve a table for $800.

Businesses, organizations and other members of the community are invited to sign up as sponsors. Sponsorship levels are available for $500, $700 or $1,000.

“The amount of support that we receive during the Gala from our community and surrounding communities has truly been a blessing for Hotline,” Mooney wrote. “We run off of grant funding, thrift store proceeds, donations and fundraisers throughout the year. Sometimes with grants, there are gaps as to when the funding is available, so with the proceeds from the Gala we are able to keep providing services.”
