The Washington (evening) Rotary Club met Thursday evening at the Washington Yacht & Country Club. After a social period in the Upper Deck, members gathered in the Pamlico Room for dinner and business. President Todd Williamson called the meeting to order and led members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Music man Bartow Houston led in one verse of “America,” and Russell Smith gave thanks for the meal. Serena Sullivan entertained members with the Health and Happiness report, and Bill Wall conducted the weekly Jack of Spades charity event.
David McLawhorn introduced Trey Howdy as the guest speaker. Howdy is a financial advisor with Edward Jones. He has been with Edward Jones for 14 years, the last six in Chocowinity. Howdy shared a little interesting family history before sharing his views on the present-day economy. He stressed the importance of being knowledgeable and diversified in today’s market. For all the valuable information shared with members, Howdy was awarded the highly coveted Rotary Pen. Williamson closed the meeting with members reciting the Four Way Test of the things we think, say and do.
