Centerstage Dance Company succeeds in Greensboro

Centerstage Dance Company, under the direction of LeAnne Jones-Braly, competed at Star Talent National Dance Competition in Greensboro on July 14-16. Twenty-eight studios and dance companies from North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania competed in the three-day competition. Six judges, who had been screened and provided by Impact Dance Adjudicators, had the task of scoring all dances.
Four dancers performed solos in the extreme level. MacKenzie Rouse performed a lyrical dance. She received a Platinum Award, first place in lyrical, and eighth-place overall.
Zoe Davenport was presented a High Gold Award for her jazz solo, and first place in jazz. Emma Wood’s lyrical solo received a Platinum Award and 10th-place overall. Nishi Desai was presented a Platinum Award for her lyrical dance.
The junior company earned a Platinum Award, and won second place for lyrical small groups. The teen company received five Platinum Awards for two contemporary, two jazz, and a lyrical dance. Their character dance was presented a Platinum Award and first place.
First place and High Gold were awarded to their modern dance. They were highly recognized for outstanding performances.
Centerstage advanced to Star Talent Nationals after attending the regional competition in Louisburg back in March. The company is based at Dance Works Performing Arts Center in Washington. It performs at the Washington Civic Center for their annual dinner theater on March 2 and dance works recital in May.
