Mr. Albert Daniel Scherer (Papa), age 76, a resident of Chocowinity, passed away Thursday August 10, 2017 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington. Born June 23, 1941 to the late Henry George Scherer, Sr. and Eleanor Jane Jones, the last of seven siblings.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday August 13, 2017 at the Scherer Family Cemetery, 11523 NC Hwy 33 E. Chocowinity, NC 27817.

He is survived by four children, Melody White and Melvin Jr. of Core Pt., Tammy Lewis and Curtis of the home, Lila Harding and Ricky of Blounts Creek and his son Nicky Scherer of Chocowinity. There are twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

His hobbies were his grandchildren and his farm. He was a simple man who didn’t need much. He was a fix anything, do anything for you, strong man who enjoyed a good laugh, John Wayne westerns and fried fish.

The family will receive friends Saturday August 12, 2017 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
