Authorities responded to the scene of a three-vehicle crash around 4 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Highway 264, near Flanders Filters Road in Washington.

A black car collided with a silver Toyota Tundra and then crashed into the back of a Transhorn Trucking LLC tractor-trailer waiting to turn right onto Flanders Filters Road, according to Clark’s Neck Fire Chief Bryan Dixon.

No one was severely injured, but the driver of the truck was transported to the hospital, Dixon said. Cole and Landon Woolard were in the black car, and both sustained minor injuries from the airbags. It is unclear whether there were more passengers in the car. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed.

Washington Fire-Rescue-EMS, Clark’s Neck Volunteer Fire Department, Pitt County EMS and North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene. As of 5 p.m., authorities were still working to clear the road and direct backed-up traffic coming into Washington.

There is no word on what exactly caused the crash, but the Woolards’ mother said her son driving was trying to change lanes and did not see the truck.

The Highway Patrol said there will likely be charges filed, but were unable to give details of those charges.
