Members of the community were honored for their outstanding participation in the Beaufort County Police Activities League program.

BCPAL President Al Powell awarded 19 different community members with official BCPAL plaques at a recent board meeting.

“I hope y’all can appreciate the talent and skills and the diversity that makes this program successful,” Powell said.

BCPAL has received support from many different aspects of Beaufort County; many award recipients were instructors at Beaufort County Community College, some were retired military, and some were city officials and business owners.

Those awarded were: Lorenzo Palin, senior team leader and BCCC firefighter academy graduate; Mike Stancill, volunteer and retired business owner/operator; SSG Kevin Chancey, science, technology, engineering and math instructor and North Carolina National Guard member; Maria Ponce Puga, student team leader and Beaufort County Early College High School student; Brian Hoyle and Tom Lattin, STEM instructors and owners of hot air balloons; Scotty Rose, STEM instructor and owner of Pamlico Dive School; Chris Moore, STEM instructor and industrial engineer and training manager; Bobby Roberson, city manager of Washington; Frankie Buck Jr., director of public works of Washington; Kristi Roberson, director of Parks and Recreation in Washington; John Anderson, STEM instructor and commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Washington flotilla; Donald Lindberg, instructor and vice commander, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Washington flotilla; Stuart and Allison Dillon, STEM program liaisons and owners of Dillon’s Aviation; Jeffrey Plisko, STEM instructor and owner of Sky Dive Little Washington; Steve Lee, donor and supporter, owner of Lee Chevrolet; Amanda Carlisle, STEM instructor and lead instructor of chemistry at BCCC; Matthew Lincoln, STEM instructor and lead instructor of engineering technology at BCCC; Jack Hill, STEM volunteer and retired airline pilot.

An honorable mention was given to the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners.

Powell graciously thanked these individuals and said each of them play an instrumental role in the success of the BCPAL program.

Following the board meeting, guests were invited to tour the Aviation, Technology and Fitness center located on Airport Road.
