The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Beaufort County and surrounding areas until 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Around 7:30 p.m., severe thunderstorms were passing through the area, and 2-3 inches of rain have already fallen.

If possible, avoid traveling on the roads. If you must travel, drive slowly and pull off the road to a safe location if needed. Never try to drive through flooded roadways, as it is difficult to determine how deep the water is. Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. Turn around, don’t drown.
