Mrs. Laura Singleton Lilley, age 84, a resident of 1288 Arthur Corey Road, Williamston, NC, died Friday, August 25, 2017 at Three Rivers Health & Rehab Center in Windsor.

A funeral service was held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Larry Stephens and Roger Leggett. Burial followed in Tice Cemetery. Bobby Hodges, Les Hodges, Mac Hodges, Billy Moore, Greg Singleton, Franklin Lilley, Perry Lilley and Billy Peel served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Lilley was born in Beaufort County on January 24, 1933, daughter of the late Sam Harvey “Jake” Singleton and Burlie Woolard Singleton. On September 19, 1951, she married Joseph Earl “Sonny” Lilley who preceded her in death on April 15, 2009. Mrs. Lilley was employed with Virginia Electric and Power Company for 14 years. She volunteered at Martin General Hospital, which led to her employment at the hospital. Mrs. Lilley retired from Martin General Hospital with 20+ years service and was an auxiliary member of Martin General Hospital. She was also a volunteer with the Red Cross. Mrs. Lilley was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, a member of the AGAPE Sunday School Class and the Arbell Manning Circle. She was a charter member of the Farm Life Ruritanettes.

Mrs. Lilley is survived by her daughter: Christi Jo Lilley Rogerson and her husband Rodney Lee Rogerson Jr. of Plymouth; her son: Joseph Earl Lilley Jr. and wife Wanda Manning Lilley of Williamston; her grandchildren: Christopher Rogerson, Lauren Rogerson, Jake Lilley, Brandon Lilley and Cameron Lilley; her sister: Libby Moore of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister: Catherine S. Hodges and her brother: Sam H. “Sammy” Singleton.

The family received friends 6:30-8:30 PM on Saturday at Piney Grove Baptist Church and other times at the home.
