Mr. Eddie Louis Elks, 79, of Chocowinity, died Saturday, August 26, 2017.

The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 PM in the Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Ronnie Gurganus and Rev. Frederick Dixon. Burial will be in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Elks was a native of Beaufort County as a lifetime farmer and a member of Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was an avid gardener and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Elks is preceded in death by his parents, William Roy Elks and Myrtie Godley Elks; and a brother, Roy Elks Jr.

He is survived by his: wife of 55 years, Betty Mayo Elks; son, Dennis Louis Elks of Chocowinity; daughters, Brenda Woolard and husband, David, of Greenville, Vickie Bennett and husband, Tommy, of Chocowinity, and Patty Hudson of Vanceboro; sisters, Linda Roebuck of Greenville, Elva Smith and husband, Rufus, of Chocowinity; grandson, Michael Bennett of Chocowinity; granddaughters, Rebecca Woolard and Rachel Woolard of Greenville and Jessica Bennett of Chocowinity.

The family received friends on Monday from 6 to 8 PM at the church.
