Mrs. Lillian Ward Woolard, age 89, a resident of 175 Woolard Avenue, Washington, NC died Saturday September 16, 2017 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 19th at 2:00 pm at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Mike Caton and Marty Alligood. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Marshal Neilson Woolard, Jay Morgan IV, Adam Boyd, Tanner Brooks, Austin Evans, and Zachary Cosentino. Honorary pallbearers are Carmer H. Wallace, Elgin Wallace, Octavus Wallace Sr., Octavus Wallace Jr., Paul Cosentino and Dwight Ainsely
The family will receive friends 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Monday, September 18th at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of Mrs. Woolard.
Mrs. Woolard was born in Washington on April 17, 1928 daughter of the late John Henry Ward and the late Alma Wilson Ward. She was a graduate of Bath High School. On October 24, 1947, Mrs. Woolard married Levin Thomas Woolard which preceded her in death December 27, 1985. She was a member of the Rosemary Church of Christ, 76ers Home Extension Club, Beaufort County Grange #1233 and the Ladies Aid of Rosemary Church of Christ. Mrs. Woolard liked to travel and take bus trips. She enjoyed fishing, needle point, embroidery, cooking and gardening. Mrs. Woolard loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons: Holton Woolard and wife Brenda of Washington, Kenneth Woolard of Portsmouth, Virginia and Tony Woolard and wife Natalie of Washington; special daughter-in law and best friend Barbara Woolard of Pinetown; three sisters Lola Williams of Pinetown, Gloria Bowen and husband Linwood of Washington, and Mary Johnson of Norfolk, Va.; four grandchildren: Stacy Brooks and husband Jason of Bath, Crystal Woolard and husband Neil of Washington, Olivia Woolard of Washington, and Deanna Morgan and husband Jay of Bath; five step-grandchildren: Samara Boyd, Amber Evans, Austin Evans, Nicholas Dotson and Lauren Dotson; six great grandchildren: Tanner Brooks, Haley Brooks, Clayton Woolard, Allison Morgan, Brody Boyd and Brantley Morgan.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Woolard was predeceased by her son Larry Woolard and her grandchild Ginger Woolard.
