Southside run over by Tarboro

CHOCOWINITY — Tarboro rolled in and out of Chocowinity, and into its first 1-A Coastal Plains Conference game, with a 44-0 shellacking of a shorthanded Southside squad.

Viking running backs Jaquez Edge and Jyron Albritton each rushed for over 100 yards as the Vikings routed Southside, 44-0, in Friday’s Coastal Plains opener. Albritton and Edge combined for three touchdowns.

Two other Tarboro running backs also scored. Quarterback Tae Randolph Devonta Davis for a 46-yard touchdown to open the scoring. The Vikings outgained the Seahawks 534-72.

Hayden Mayo led a depleted Southside running back corps with 34 yards. Trajan Rhome chipped in with 28 yards.

Southside, losers of its last two games, takes to the road to challenge Pamlico County next week. The Seahawks hope to earn their first league win there before going out to Jones Senior the following week.
