Our beloved mother, Dorothy Anne Edwards Credle, joined her loving husband on Thursday, September 21st. Dorothy was born in Bladen County on July 24, 1930, the daughter of the late Roy Edwards and Retha Singletary Edwards. For most of her life she called Great Bridge home, but had recently moved to the family home in Bath.

Dorothy was a graduate of Great Bridge High School class of 1948. After graduation from Kees Business College, she went to work at Richmond Cedar Works where she met her husband, Martin Floyd Credle. They were married May 20, 1950. That union of 63 years blessed them with 3 children, Deborah Anne Credle, Bryan Keith Credle and Martin Floyd Credle Jr. She was a past member of Colonial Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her children, she is survived by 2 grandchildren, Lillie and Emma Credle; brothers, Stephen Edwards, Reverend D. Thomas Edwards and Michael Edwards. She had a great love for her family and will be missed by all.

There will be a service for her at St. Clair’s Church of Christ in Bath at 1:00 Tuesday, September 26th, officiated by her brother, Rev. D. Thomas Edwards. Visitation will immediately follow. She will then be carried home to be laid to rest. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 27th from 6:00–8:00 with the service being at 1:00 on Thursday, September 28th at the Hollomon Brown, Great Bridge Chapel on Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA. Burial will immediately follow the service in the Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
