Published 2:26 pm Friday, September 29, 2017

During the month of October reduced adoption rates for dogs and puppies at the Beaufort County Shelter will be in effect. For more information, contact shelter staff in person at the shelter, call 252-946-4517 or email to animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us.

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs, ENC Shelter Cats and Washington Cat Rescue on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.

Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us — always use the animal’s ID number.

Thelma and Louise

Two sweethearts, that’s exactly what these kittens are. Both females are about 3 months old, and they love to purr, be held and have fun. Absolutely gorgeous — Louise is stunningly in her jet-black coat, and Thelma is beautiful in her gray and black tabby stripes. These little charmers will fit well into a variety of home settings. When they’re given the love, warmth and stability of a good forever home, these kittens will blossom into a devoted friends, pets and companions.

For more on these darling girls, visit www.facebook.com/EncShelterCats/. Thelma’s ID is No. 1608 and Louise’s ID is No. 1609. Come in and meet these adorable kittens – they are available through next Saturday at the shelter.

Remy

At approximately 4 years old, this large chocolate bulldog-mix is a happy and friendly fellow. Unfortunately, he does not do well with small animals and livestock, and he will do best as an only dog or adopted with his friend, Meaty, also located at the shelter.

Remy needs owner(s) willing to give him love, attention and lots of consistent exercise in a fenced area or on leash. He deserves a good, loving forever home where he can be a faithful companion and pet.

For more photos, visit www.facebook.com/EncShelterDogs and click on the appropriate links. Remy’s ID is No. 1623. Come meet him, he’s available at the shelter.
