Mr. Leonard Victor Huber Jr., age 86, a resident of Washington, died Monday, October 2, 2017 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 6, 2017 at Christ Church of Washington and will be officiated by Rev. Joshua Yoder.
Mr. Huber was born on Mother’s Day, May 9, 1931 in New Orleans, LA. He was educated in New Orleans at Newman High School and Tulane University. Mr. Huber served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the vestry of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Metairie, LA. Mr. Huber became secretary of St. John Cemetery Association, a family business. He later was self-employed as a licensed building contractor. He lived in New Orleans until he moved to Washington in January of 1993, where he was co-owner with his wife of Acadian House Bed and Breakfast. Mr. Huber was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. He served on the Historic Preservation Commission. Mr. Huber was a member of Friends of the Brown Library, the Pamlico Tar River Foundation, the Beaufort County Arts Council, the Washington Yacht & Country Club and was an active member of the Washington Area Historic Foundation.
Survivors include his wife, Johanna Bernard Huber; three sons, Murray Wells Huber and wife Carol of Nashville, TN, Brian Leonard Huber and companion Bain LaPlant of San Francisco, CA, Christopher Rainold Huber and wife Lillian of Atlanta, GA; two stepchildren, Charles Stuart McKendrick III and wife Ann of New Orleans, LA, Lesley
Elizabeth McKendrick and companion Brian Nepsa of Charlotte; and thirteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard V. Huber, Audrey Wells Huber; a son, Leonard V. Huber III; a brother, Lloyd Wells Huber.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the home of Mr. Huber.
