William “Bill” Everette Eason Jr., 74, of St. Simons Island, Georgia, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 22, 2017.

Bill was born January 20, 1943 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, the son of the late William Everette Eason Sr. and the late Helen Matthews Eason. He graduated from Washington High School in North Carolina and Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He then attended Duke University School Of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate of Law. Bill then married his high school sweetheart Judith Harris. Bill and Judy lived in Atlanta, GA for many years where Bill practiced law. They enjoyed spending time in St. Simons Island and on Mount Desert Island, Maine, and after retirement they split time between both places. He was faithful to St. Simons Island Presbyterian Church and to Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Judith Harris Eason of St. Simons Island, GA; his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Ryan Nubel of Atlanta, GA; his two precious grandchildren, Hailey and William Nubel; two brothers, Don Eason (Jenny) and Steve Eason (Catherine); one sister, Susan Mullis (Reggie); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bill was a devoted husband and father. He was not only kind and caring to everyone, but faithful to his Lord and church, and also to his family and friends, with whom he loved to spend much time. He adored his grandchildren, and playing with them always brought out the kid in him.

His tales of forest-dwelling Catawampas, mischievous Turtle Heads and his “Tips for Teens” have been, and will undoubtedly continue to be, passed down through the generations. He will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. His family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.

The family held a celebration of life service at St. Simons Presbyterian Church Thursday, September 28, 2017, at 11:00 AM with Reverend Alan Dyer and Reverend Bob Brearley officiating the service.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for memorial contributions made in William Everette Eason Jr.’s memory to Maine Seacoast Mission, 127 West St., Bar Harbor, ME 04609, or The Island Institute, 386 Main St., Rockland, ME 04841, or the charity of your choice.
