Major Reading Blount Chapter holds September meeting

The Major Reading Blount Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its first meeting for the 2017–2018 year at Brown Library on Sept. 20.
Regent Reid Solomon called the meeting to order and led the ritual. Chapter officers and committee chairmen presented reports, minutes were approved and the treasurer’s report was given.
Members who attended the district meeting and fall forum informed the members of information gained and certificates earned by the chapter. Activities for Constitution Week were also shared.
Two prospective members, Donna Pool and Sue Watson, were introduced. Mrs. Larry Hines, National Defense NCSDAR state chairman, presented an interesting account of her service with the Red Cross during the Vietnam War.
The next meeting of the chapter will be at Brown Library on Oct. 18.
