Margaret W. Lockyer

Margaret Virginia Walter Lockyer, 81, of 1556 Farrow Fork Road, Engelhard, died Friday, October 6, 2017, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer at Cross Creek Health Care Center where she had been a patient recently.

Born in Valley City, Ohio on December 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Viola Wirkner Walter. She graduated from Liverpool School in 1953. She was married to Wallace Edwin Lockyer Jr. who survives. She spent most of her working years in the accounting field as a bookkeeper. She spent several years working in the Engelhard office of Tideland Electric Membership Corporation and was a member of Engelhard Christian Church.

Margaret enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, fishing and going to Florida for the winter. She also enjoyed other travels, gardening and card games.

A memorial service will be held at Engelhard Christian Church at a day and hour to be announced.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 54 years, are a son, William C. Muntz and wife, Patricia of Engelhard; two brothers, Bernard Walter and wife, Beverly of Valley City, Ohio and Charlie Walter and wife, Loretta F. Maracopa, AZ; two sisters, Norma Duplaga of Medina, OH and Mary Dangelo of Grafton, OH; a granddaughter, Alesci Hawkins and husband, Scott of Wadsworth, OH; two great-grandchildren, Maddy and Mason Hawkins; three step-grandchildren, Shani Seacrest, Tim Hubley and Mitch Hubley, all of Ohio; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to Engelhard Christian Church, P.O. Box 127, Engelhard, NC 27824, or Engelhard Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 296, Engelhard, NC 27824.
