Evelyn L. Tucker

Mrs. Evelyn Mae Long Tucker, age 76, a resident of 1120 Cowell Farm Road, Washington and a former resident of Chocowinity died Friday July 1, 2011 at her home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Tucker was born in Beaufort County on October 5, 1935 daughter of the late Milton “Nanny” Long and the late Phyllis Mitchell Long. She was a graduate of Mother of Mercy Catholic School in Washington. Mrs. Tucker married Roy Cain Tucker on November 17, 1952 who survives. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, a member of Beaufort County AARP where she served as past president, was a volunteer and vice president of Helping Hands, a member of Eastern Star Chapter JEPATH in New York and a member of various civic organizations. She had worked as a cook at the Washington Yacht and Country Club and most recently at P. J’s. Restaurant.
Surviving along with Mrs. Tucker’s husband Roy of the home and stepmother Essie Mae Moore Long of Blount’s Creek are two daughters: Stephanie Boyd of Bronx, NY and Alessandria Tucker of Greenville, NC; a sister: Tanya Long Fonville of Blount’s Creek; a granddaughter: Regina Boyd of Manhattan, NY and a host of nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends at the home.
