Northeast traveled to undefeated Chocowinity on Wednesday. The defensive struggle between the Beaufort County rivals required double overtime to settle. The Indians preserved their unbeaten streak and clinched the conference championship by hanging on for a 24-22 win when a Cougar receiver couldn’t hang on to the 2-point conversion pass. Kenjray Coffield led the way with 110 yards from scrimmage, two touchdowns and two more 2-point conversions. Chocowinity also had Brandon Clark rush for 81 yards. Shawn Gerard took four carries for 27 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Walker Hill completed 3-of-5 pass attempts for 33 yards. He also scurried for 23 yards. Defensively, Manconte Deloach led the Indians with six tackles and an interception. Coffield, Bryan Hernandez, Emiliano Hernandez and James Main all had four takedowns apiece, too. Northeast had the highlight-reel play of the game when Jeffrey Manning took a kickoff 70 yards back for a touchdown. Elijah Holloway had a touchdown catch and Noah Manning scored on the ground. Elsewhere, Bath fell short to St. Peter’s in another double-overtime game.
