From Mother of Mercy Catholic Church

On Oct. 13, Mother of Mercy Catholic Church had a 6 p.m. mass to celebrate the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima with a candlelight procession around the neighborhood while praying the rosary to bring healing and peace to our world.

On 1917 with World War I going on, our blessed Mother Mary, the Mother of God, appeared to three children, Lucy dos Santos, and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto. They had taken their parents’ sheep to pasture not far from their homes in the mountain valley of Fatima, Portugal, when a beautiful lady appeared to the three children. She had told to pray the rosary every day for world peace.

Lucy described her, “She was a lady more brilliant than the sun.” The lady told them to come Aug. 13. More than 15,000 people were waiting.

On Sept. 15, more than 30,000 people were there and saw a shower of mysterious white petals fall within 10 feet of the ground before dissolving into the air.

At noon on Oct. 13, more than 70,000 locals crowded in the cove. It had people crowded together standing in mud to their ankles. They huddled together under umbrellas, seeking protection from the relentless rain. They were all praying the rosary. The beautiful lady appeared to Lucy and when the lady was about to leave she pointed to the sun. Lucy repeated the gesture and the people looked into the sky. The rain cleared and the clouds parted, and the sun shone forth and began to whirl in the sky, casting of great shafts of multicolored light. Red, green, blue, yellow and violet rays of light shed across the sky at all angles lighting up the entire countryside for miles around. After three minutes, the wonder stopped, but was resumed again a second and third time within about 12 minutes.

When the people arose from the ground, cries of atonement were heard on all sides. Their clothes, which had been soaking wet and muddy, now were clean and dry. Many of the sick and crippled had been healed of their afflictions.

Today, Catholics pray to the rosary for world peace and the sins of the world.

Pope Pius XII said, “The greatest sin or our generation is that it has lost all sense of sin.”
