The A to Z Doll Club met Sept. 25, at the Pizza Inn in Washington. Those present included Diana Cates, Betty Ross, Martha Seighman, Joyce Carawan, Marguerite Ferry, Catherine Fulford, Patricia Harris, Donna and Briley Hodges, Colleen Lupton, Martha Robbins, Joyce Tucker, Gloria Windley and new member Jackie Wynne.
Minutes of the June meeting were given and Diana read a “thank you” note from the Blind Center of North Carolina for the Doll Club’s contribution toward its ice cream fundraiser.
Following a lengthy discussion of the Doll Show results, suggestions were made to either hold a Doll Club tea instead of a full show or to hold only a Doll Club raffle. A motion was made, seconded and voted on to have just a raffle this year. More discussion on what/when followed this month.
The Doll Club Christmas party is to be held the first Monday, Dec. 4, at 11:30 a.m.
Martha R. and Gloria are showing at a Doll Show in Richmond from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 4. It was suggested those wishing to go could car pool for the 3 1/2 hour drive.
The group serenaded birthday girls Betty (August) and Diana (September). Door prizes brought by Martha R., Patricia, Diana and Joyce were won by Diana, Colleen, Patricia, Joyce, Diana, Catherine and Martha S.
Show and Tell participants included Joyce C., Marguerite, Martha R. and Donna. The theme for the October Show and Tell included Halloween, Columbus Day, fall dolls and dolls of choice.
Diana announced the Oct. 23 meeting at the Pizza Inn, and this meeting was adjourned.
