The Washington (evening) Rotary Club met Thursday evening at the Washington Yacht & Country Club. Members socialized in the Upper Deck before moving to the Pamlico Room for dinner and business. David McLawhorn filled in for President Todd Williamson. Brownie Futrell led in the Pledge of Allegiance, and music man Bartow Houston led members in one verse of “America.” Rocky Jacobs gave the Health and Happiness report.
Program Chairman Brownie Futrell introduced Melissa Henley as the guest speaker. Henley is a dance major at East Carolina University and had visited the club several months ago as she was preparing to do a study abroad. Several club members supported her trip, and she returned to report on her travels. The trip to London allowed her to learn new dance techniques and make new friends with many talented and creative people. She shared a video presentation and answered questions from members. Henley prefers contemporary jazz dance and hopes to further pursue those interests in Chicago after graduation. She received the highly coveted Rotary pen for her presentation. Tripp Bliley closed the meeting by leading members in reciting the Four Way Test.
