Louise Williams Sawyer, 82, of 9812 North Lake Road, Fairfield, died Thursday, November 8, 2007, at Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
Born in Engelhard, August 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Maranda J. Brinn Williams. She was married to Roscoe Sawyer, who preceded her in death. She was a life-long member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Leon Williams and Russell Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Fulford Cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters, Joan Sawyer of Elizabeth City, Sharon Thornton and her husband, Steve, Rhoda Marsh and her husband, Bill, both of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Amelia “Sugar” Pledger of New Bern and Edna W. Lewis of Fairfield; five grandchildren, Brady Thornton, Timothy Thornton, Matthew Thornton, Kristin Baskin, Brandon Marsh; two great-grandchildren, Calvin Baskin and Audrey Thornton.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Weston Marsh; two brothers, Orville Williams and Ashley Williams; two sisters, Margaret Gibbs and Beulah Mae Mooney.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to RBC Foundation/Pleasant Grove Church of Christ Scholarship, 715 N. Poindexter Street, Elizabeth City NC 27909.
