John W. Tyndall

Mr. John Winston Tyndall, age 78, a resident of Greenville and a former resident of Washington, died Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Center.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and will be officiated by Rev. Chris Humphreys. Matt O’Neal, Timmy Sutton, Rodney Braddy, Doug Alligood, Roger Woolard and Melvin Hales will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Tyndall was born in Pitt County on June 9, 1939 to the late Arthur R. Tyndall and Mary Register Tyndall. On August 15, 1958, he married Thelma Lee Woolard Tyndall who preceded him in death on June 11, 2011. He worked for the Town of Washington Park for 6 years and the City of Washington for 10 years and as a supervisor for Estes Trucking for 19 years. Sports were a big part of his life. Mr. Tyndall coached, umpired and played softball in his 40s. In his youth, he played flag football. He was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.
Survivors include his son, John Allen Tyndall of Greenville.
He is preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Tyndall, Fred Tyndall, Arthur Tyndall; four sisters, Mary Lee Powell, Goldy Tyndall, Marie Tyndall, Joyce Ann Tyndall; and his in-laws, Julian T. Woolard and Olive W. Woolard.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
