There’ve been singers and comedians; quartets, quintets and soloists. Tonight, however, Beaufort County Concert Association introduces a little bit of song into a lot of dance with Two on Tap.

“To my knowledge, we’ve never had anything like this for a show,” said BCCA President Alma Friedman. “We thought it would be something different.”

The Broadway duo of Melissa Giattino and Ron DeStefano combine vocals, choreography, audience participation and a side-piano-man offering comic relief in a performance that Friedman said impressed BCCA talent-seekers at a Nashville convention.

“They were really good and we really liked them, and normally (dance is) not our cup of tea, but they sing as well and they have beautiful voices,” Friedman said.

Tonight’s show is the second of BCCA’s five-show series and the second to be held at Arts of the Pamlico’s Turnage Theatre. Previously, BCCA’s home was the Washington High School Performing Arts Center, but the move was made downtown to combine AOP’s and BCCA’s artistic efforts and bring more traffic to the historic business district. Friedman said the first show at the Turnage was worth the effort.

“It was really good. We almost had a full house. We had a really good turnout. People seemed really excited,” Friedman said. “They parked early; went to dinner.”

Friedman said she’s hoping that people will not only come to tonight’s concert, but also take advantage of the Girls’ Night Out Fall Crawl — a holiday-season kickoff hosted by numerous downtown merchants, in which stores will stay open late and offer special discounts.

“We’re trying to help downtown — we’re all after the same thing,” Friedman said.

BCCA sells season passes to its shows, but individual tickets for tonight’s performance will be sold at the door for $25. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. performance.
