William Burton Gray

Mr. William Burton Gray, age 88, a resident of Greenville and a former resident of Aurora died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at MacGregor Downs Health & Rehab.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at Edward Christian Church officiated by Pastor David Linton. Burial will follow in Warren Memorial Cemetery of Blounts Creek.
The family will receive family and friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Edward Christian Church.
Mr. Gray was born in Beaufort County on Jan. 22, 1929, son of the late Willie Burton Gray and the late Kathleen Moore Gray. He was a graduate of Aurora High School and served his country in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean war. On Aug. 13, 1951, he married the former Melissa Mae Hollowell and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage before her death on March 18, 2013. Mr. Gray was a retired benefit administrator for the former Texas Gulf of Aurora. He was a member of the former Aurora Ruritan Club, a past volunteer with Aurora Rescue Squad and a dedicated member of Edward Christian Church. Following his moving to Greenville, he became a member of Greenville Church of God.
Survivors include a son: Mark Gray and wife Diane of Greenville; a daughter: Judi G. Wooten of Greenville; a son: Larry Burton Gray and wife Sara of Bartow, FL; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Gray was predeceased by a brother: Edward Gray.
