Introduced by club member, John Tate, Liz Liles, founder of Daughters of Worth, delivered a presentation on a program designed to help girls in our community fully understand their own value.

In Liles’ own words: “Daughters of Worth is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that exists to educate, equip and empower girls of all ages to become strong women of influence in their communities. It was established in 2015 with 12 middle/high school girls. We focus on character education, leadership development, service projects and healthy living (including our bodies, as well as healthy relationships.)

As the interest began to increase, we partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Firetower location and expanded the program to girls of all ages. By the end of 2016, we were faithfully serving approximately 60 girls each week through this program.

Today, we are continuing to serve with the Boys & Girls Clubs and have reached up to 80 girls through the Daughters of Worth mentorship program. Just recently, we have launched a new monthly travel group for girls, which incorporates the elements of character education, service projects, leadership development and recreational outings. In addition, Elmhurst Elementary will begin to pilot the program in January 2018. We are also seeking to expand to Beaufort County and will soon be offering a Daughters of Worth mentorship group for this area as well.

In addition to the mentorship opportunities, Daughters of Worth established ‘Notes of Hope.’ This encouragement initiative is designed to encourage and inspire the girls of local schools who simply need to be reminded that they are loved, valuable and treasured.

Once the girls have been identified and consent forms completed by parents, we adopt these girls for one full school year and provide them with a handwritten card of encouragement and inspiration each month! The cards are written from women in the community who gather together monthly for a “Notes of Hope Tribe Writing Party” and who have a passion for pouring into the girls of their community.

Currently, over 150 girls from 11 schools and three counties are being served through Notes of Hope.

Altogether, Daughters of Worth is touching the lives of almost 300 girls each month!

There is no fee for the girls to participate in Daughters of Worth or to receive Notes of Hope. It is our heart and passion to ensure that every girl truly knows her value and worth. “
