Teacher effectiveness data released

Tyrrell County Schools’ Teacher Effectiveness data for the 2016-17 school year have been released.

While most of the teachers in Tyrrell County Schools met growth expectations with students, a few teachers exceeded student-growth expectations.

The designation “meets expected growth” is the indicator of evidence that the teacher’s students made progress similar to the Growth Standard (standard growth index between -2 and 2).

The designation “exceeds expected growth” is the indicator of evidence that the teacher’s students made more progress than the Growth Standard (growth index greater than 2).

The following teachers will be recognized at the

January Board of Education meeting for exceeding growth standards:

Cheryl Helms, 4th Grade Math; Polly Rollinson, K-2 Text Reading and Comprehension; Tricia Tawes,K-2 Text Reading and Comprehension; Dana DeGraaf, 7th Grade Social Studies; Victoria Krawczyk, 7th Grade Science; 8th Grade Science; Joshua Davenport, Agriscience Applications; Leonard

Leta, Physical Science; and David Spruill, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
