Curtis Eugene Stilley, Sr.

Curtis Eugene Stilley, Sr., of Hampton, Virginia, was born on Sept. 21, 1942, in Beaufort County of Washington, NC and passed away on Jan. 1, 2018. During his life, he served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve from July 1964 until March 1970. He also worked as a police officer with Newport News Police Department from 1970 until retirement in 2005. He was a Master Police Officer and Firearms Instructor. He married Carolyn Sue Jackson on Jan. 13, 1978, and together they lived in Hampton, Virginia.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Eugene and Allie Fleming Stilley; brothers, Lester Allen Stilley, Sr. and Milan Stilley. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sue Stilley; children, Curtis “Curt” Eugene Stilley, Jr. of Stanton, John Wesley Mills of Richmond, Cary Mills Dryden of Richmond, and Michael Chadwick Mills of Richland, WA; his beloved Chihuahua, Cocoa; sisters, Lynda Carole Moore of Washington, and Kathryn S. Dickinson of Washington; brother, Floyd Wade Stilley and his wife, Pauline of Chocowinity; four granddaughters; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends at Peninsula Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Peninsula Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m., with the burial to follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
