On Wednesday, January 17, the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office arrested Irvin P. Davis, 45, an inmate at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm at Columbia, for felony possession of controlled substance on prison/jail premises, Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported.

The drug found was Suboxone.

Davis is the thirty-first inmate that has been charged by the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office with felony possession of controlled substance on prison/jail premises since May 2017, the sheriff stated.

Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone, according to Drugs.com. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication, sometimes called a narcotic. Naloxone (Narcan) blocks the effects of opioid medication, including pain relief or feelings of well being that can lead to opioid abuse.

Suboxone is used to treat narcotic (opiate) addiction.

Suboxone is not for use as a pain medication. Suboxone can slow or stop your breathing, and may be habit-forming even at regular doses. Fatal side effects can occur if you use Suboxone with alcohol, or with other drugs that cause drowsiness or slow your breathing, Drugs.com advises.
