David Rickey Spencer passed Feb. 28, 2018, at 7:45 p.m. at the Hospice House in Greenville. He was born Aug. 24, 1951, in Tyrrell County Hospital in Columbia. He is the son of Agnes Agatha Gibbs and Elmer Carl Spencer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, E. Merita Lewis–Spencer; one son, Corey Spencer; and much-loved daughter-in-law, Sara.

He is survived by two brothers and one sister: Graham and wife Sharon, of Fairfield, Wanda S. Thigpen and husband Mitchell, of Fountain, and Carl and wife Elaine, of Fairfield; nephews and nieces, Andy Spencer, Sherri S. Cox and husband Kane, Derek Spencer and wife Amber, Melissa S. Sanders and husband Jared, Rachel S. Clark and husband Harry; and great-nieces and -nephews, Michael, River, Trista, Colby, Isaac, Raelynn, Kensley, Benjamin, Aida and Lili.

Honoring his request, there will be no funeral service. Family and friends may feel free to stop by his home Saturday or Sunday.
