The native plants at Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge have begun to flower and regrow. Red maple and elm trees are blooming and elderberry plants are sprouting new leaves. Red maples and elms make their seed very early in the year, providing a pre-spring food source for birds & other wildlife.
