Beginning Monday and running through June 4, Washington’s water-resources division will feed free chlorine into the city’s water system and Beaufort County’s north-side water system.
The introduction of free chlorine into the systems is a maintenance effort required by state law. Some water customers might notice a slight increase of chlorine taste and odor. Washington water customers who have questions about the process should call 975-9310 or 975-9374. Beaufort County water customers who have similar questions should call 975-0720.
Washington crews will test fire hydrants the week of June 4. Beaufort County crews will flush fire hydrants from Monday through June 30. Crews will flush the fire hydrants during day and night hours. Testing includes flushing water from fire hydrants. City water customers might notice cloudiness in their tap water during the testing period. The cloudiness is caused by sediments floating in the water lines. The discoloration is harmless and clears up after a short period.
Washington water customers who have questions about the process should call 975-9310 or 975-9374. Beaufort County water customers who have similar questions should call 975-0720.
