From Marion & Jane Dilday Fitness Center
The Marion & Jane Dilday Fitness Center had its grand re-opening April 12.
A renovation was done by completely replacing the floor systems: beams, supports and floor services. To fund this project, contributions from the community, along with family contributions and a welcomed contribution from Vidant Health, helped complete this project. The Dilday Fitness Center is named after Jane and Marion Dilday, Belhaven residents who dedicated their time and money to making this fitness center one of the best and most well-managed gyms in the area. Their daughter, Ellen Allen, has taken over as manager, as well as being an active board of directors member. Three other daughters, Susan Smith, Lynn Ross and Marian Keech, support and give of their time and money to keep the center one of the most popular and well-supplied in eastern North Carolina
Contributors to this project were Vidant Health, Ellen Allen, Marian Keech, Susan Smith, Mike Bishop Farms, Leamon Allen Farms, Armstrong Farms, Neil and Diane Bowen, Margarette Laughinghouse, Mark Gnagy, Neal O’Neal, Southern Bank and Lynn Ross. Without these contributions, the fitness center doors would be closed.
The center serves a large area in Beaufort and Hyde counties. From free weights to tanning, the center covers it all, including cross training, juice bar, treadmills, exercise bikes, locker rooms with showers and a cardio area with an audio theater.
Forrest Williams, personal trainer, is in house on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so call 943-3829 to make appointments with him. The center. At 144 W. Main St., is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
