A group of local theater enthusiasts finished up months of preparation this weekend by staging an original play penned by Washington resident Jonathan Clayborne.
“Otis Loves Olive: A Radio Story” was presented before a sold-out audience Friday evening at Fox Hollow Farms. Negotiations are underway with cast and crew to stage a second performance of the play, perhaps in early summer at a different venue, according to Clayborne.
The play was presented by Alternative Stage and Le Moulin Rouge de Danse, with proceeds benefiting Open Door Community Center, a Beaufort County facility serving homeless women and children. Co-directors of the project are Clayborne and Shannon Reising.
Clayborne was cast in one of the leading roles, and others joining him for the project included Robin Woolard, Michelle Lynn Pittman, William Reising, Riley Simpson, Raven Simpson, James Casey, Roman Leary, Gary Woolard, Tori Banks, Lee Drake, Saoirse Casey, Aisling Casey, Roberta Kincheloe, Justin Casey, Shannon Reising, Cassie Teixeira and Hope Stallings. In addition, Stuart Lannon and Lou Valenti worked behind the scenes to make the project a success.
