CHOCOWINITY — The Chocowinity Fire Department is gearing up for its 11th annual Spring Heat car, truck, motorcycle and big rig show.
The event is scheduled for May 19, according to show chairman Michael Buzzeo, a fire fighter, first responder and soon-to-be emergency medical technician.
Monies raised during the event benefit the volunteer fire department and in the past have been used to to purchase equipment and meet other needs.
“Registration is from 7 a.m. to noon, and we’ll present the awards at 3 p.m.,” Buzzeo said. “If the weather is nice, we’ll be there until 5 p.m.”
As usual, the show will be held on the campus of Chocowinity Middle School. The registration fee per vehicle is $20.
Awards presented will include Top 50 trophies, best paint, best engine and best interior.
A deejay will provide musical entertainment throughout the day, and barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs, ice cream and soft drinks will be available for purchase, according to Buzzeo.
A swap meet for classic car enthusiasts looking accessories and parts is planned, as is a craft/gift market. With the latter, vendors will offer homemade crafts and wreaths, home decor items, hair and skin products, clothing and wood items. Vendors spaces are still available; for more information, contact Tonya Avery at 252-495-1102.
