Shown are some of the Civil War artifacts collected by the late Ricky Swain, a Tyrrell County native, and donated recently to the NC Department of Cultural Resources by Carol Toppin, who inherited them when Swain, her husband, was killed in a 1978 explosion of Civil War ordnance.
