Tyrrell Elementary School is the most recent local recipient of BB&T’s Lighthouse Project.
BB&T has purchased 107 books for the TES media center, Dr. Will Hoffman, superintendent, reported May 18. The titles were selected from a student-created wish list.
TES is collaborating with BB&T’s Columbia branch to arrange for banking associates to go to the school and help prepare and label these new books, allowing library staff to have them added promptly to the school’s digital software inventory and available for checkout, Dr. Hoffman explained.
The Lighthouse Project gives BB&T an opportunity to provide corporate financial support to local charities, while associates come out and volunteer manpower hours.
BB&T associates have contributed more than 500,000 volunteer hours and improved the quality of life for more than 15 million people since the Lighthouse Project began in 2009.
