Tyrrell County has been awarded a $750,000 grant for housing and sewer improvements and for a food pantry in Columbia, David Clegg, county manager, reported to the county commissioners on May 21.

The initial scope of the program is to connect two houses on Cove and Goat Neck roads to county sewer service, rehabilitate three residential structures, and provide space for the Church Road Emergency Food Closet’s operations and storage.

County officials submitted the Neighborhood Revitalization grant application on February 28.

McDavid Associates of Farmville is assisting the county with the project.
