Peele faces drug-related charges

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Monday, Deputy Toby Woolard with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office’s Patrol Division assisted a N.C. Highway Patrol trooper with a traffic stop on Page Road in Washington.

During the stop, a plastic bag containing eight smaller bags of marijuana was recovered from a door armrest. Unopened cigars and an open container of alcohol also were discovered.

As a result, Woolard arrested Ameole Ramone Peele Jr., 19, of Cherry Lane, Chocowinity, and charged him with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a vehicle to keep controlled substances. Peele was cited for failing to wear a seatbelt. He was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond.

A passenger in the vehicle was cited for possession of an open container of alcohol.
