Mrs. Evelyn “Rebecca” Woolard Walls, age 86, a resident of 101 Fenner Lane, Washington, died Monday evening, June 18, 2018, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Alligood Church of God, officiated by Pastor Gary Bateman. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Ted Woolard, Toby Woolard, Ronnie Woolard, Gary Wayne Woolard, Bobby Gray Woolard and Horace “Chubby” Woolard will serve as pallbearers. Harold “Buddy” Woolard will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. Walls was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 10, 1931, daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Woolard and Emma Queen Woolard. She was a member of Alligood Church of God and past choir member. Mrs. Walls was employed with National Spinning until 1973. She enjoyed shopping, playing games and being with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph Manley “Jody” Alligood, Jr. and wife Linda, of Edenton, and Johnnie Lee Alligood and wife Pamela, of Columbia, South Carolina; her daughter, Kristi Walls Bass and husband Chad, of Washington; her stepdaughters, Pamela Sheldon and husband Frank, of Chocowinity, and Kathy Murphy and husband Roger, of Gray Court, South Carolina; her brother, Donald Ray Woolard and wife Donnie Ruth, of Washington; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Darden Walls; her daughter, Paula Jean Walls and brothers, Leon Woolard and Horace “Pookie” Woolard.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at Alligood Church of God and other times at her home.
