Sheriff reports June activities to commissioners

Tyrrell County sheriff’s officers responded to 1,189 law enforcement calls during June, Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported.
There were 55 ambulance and 13 fire calls that month also.
Officers arrested 119 individuals and charged them with 157 offenses. These included 107 traffic violations, 32 drug violations, seven contempt of court, a simple assault, a vandalism, and disorderly conduct.
Deputies served 33 criminal and 22 civil papers for the courts.
Officers drove 2,577 miles and logged 109.5 hours in transporting individuals to and from confinement facilities. The cost of housing 16 male and one female inmates at the Dare County Detention Center was $13,250.
The sheriff and his deputies drove 14,299 miles on duty in June.
