Feb. 21, 1949 – July 31, 2018

Nathan Lester Jackson, Sr., 69, of Manteo died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.

Born February 21, 1949 in Tyrrell County he was the son of the late Delton Lester Jackson and Grace Holadia Jackson and was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Mae Jackson Midgett. Nathan was a commercial fisherman and member of Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia.

His family includes his wife, Karen Etheridge Jackson of Manteo, N.C.; son, Nathan L. “Igg” Jackson, Jr. of Wanchese, N.C.; daughters, Natalie Jackson of Norfolk, VA. and Elizabeth “Tha” Jackson of Virginia Beach, VA.; sisters, Carrie Lee Reynolds and husband C.L. and Wilma Rae Owens and husband George both of Columbia, N.C.; grandchildren, Daryn, Kyle, Lovie, Gracie, Lyra and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church, Columbia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the church following the service and other times at the residence in Manteo.
