Frederic Wynne Gurganus

Mr. Frederic Wynne Gurganus, age 72, a resident of Washington, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at his home.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Steve Hill.
Mr. Gurganus was born in Beaufort County on May 2, 1946. He was the son of the late Joseph Vernon Gurganus, Sr. and Doris Wynne Gurganus. Mr. Gurganus was a retired salesman and former vice-president of sales for Lee Lumber and Plywood.
Mr. Gurganus enjoyed anything related to cars, boats, woodworking and remodeling. He always saw improvements to be made in any project and loved the challenge. He enjoyed meeting others, sharing stories and learning. Mr. Gurganus had a good sense of humor and was a natural storyteller. He was kind hearted and reached out to help others.
He is survived by his partner, Sadie Gurley, of the home; brother, Joseph Vernon Gurganus, Jr. and his wife, Harriet, of Washington Park; two nephews, Martin Douglas Gurganus and his wife, Carla, and Jeffrey Neil Gurganus and his wife, Julie, all of Maryland; and lifelong friend, Charles Woolard, of Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
