Virginia Howes

Virginia Howes, 83, passed away on Wednesday morning August 15, 2018 at her home in Lake Murvaul, Texas. Adele, as known by her friends and family, was born on December 7, 1934 in Winterville, North Carolina to the late Robert Bruce Braxton and Johnnie Bell Creel Braxton. She graduated from Winterville High School with the class of 1951. Adele married Donald Earle Howes on May 30, 2003 in Washington, North Carolina. She worked at Proctor & Gamble in Greenville, North Carolina as a supervisor until her retirement in 1994. Adele moved to Lake Murvaul in May of 2018 from North Fort Myers, Florida. She was of the Baptist faith.
Adele was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Clifton Ray Avery, her son, Kenneth Ray Avery and her five siblings, Rita Braxton Brannon, Wilbur Braxton, “Buddy” Braxton, Sue Braxton Brannon, and Robert Lee Braxton.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Lynn Avery Haddock and husband Jeff Haddock of Vanceboro, North Carolina, four grandchildren, Tammy Diana Avery Swindell and husband Kevin Swindell, Jessica Ann Avery Trueblood and husband Phil Trueblood, Kenneth Ray Avery Jr., and Daniel James Avery. She has four great- grandchildren, Damian Chase Swindell, Jacob Shane Swindell, Cassidy Grace Trueblood and step great grandson, Braxton Trueblood. Also, step-son Donald Howes Jr, and step great-grandson, Miesha Howes of New Jersey and step-daughter Cindy Howes of Murvaul, Texas.
Cremation arrangements were by Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home, Texas. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, North Carolina. Visitation is at 11 a.m. and the memorial service immediately following at noon.
