Hyde County providing transportation for residents to Knightdale shelter

Hyde County Transit will be providing transportation assistance from Hyde County to the evacuation shelter located in Knightdale, NC on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. The bus will leave from Davis Ventures and multiple stops on the way out of the county. Please call Hyde Transit to reserve a spot on the bus to the shelter. They can be reached at 252-926-1637. Pets are allowed but need to be in a crate.

The scheduled stops are listed below:

10 a.m. – Departs Davis Ventures
10:35 a.m. – Departs Mattamuskeet High School
11:10 a.m. – Departs O.A Peay School
11:40 a.m. – Departs Scranton Post Office
12:15 p.m. – Departs Mount Olive Church

The designated evacuation shelter for Hyde County residents is Knightdale High School, 100 Bryan Chalk Ln, Knightdale, NC 27545. This shelter is open to all Hyde County residents that wish to utilize it. The shelter is pet friendly and equipped to handle animals.

Anyone having special medical needs that need evacuation transportation to Cherry Hospital, please contact the Emergency Operations Center at 252-926-3715 to make arrangements.
