GREENSBORO — The North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership’s “Hometown Debate” has been rescheduled to Wednesday. The debate will still be held at the Arts of the Pamlico’s Historic Turnage Theatre in Washington at 7 p.m.

The debate in Washington will focus on the proposed amendment of requiring voters to present a photo ID before voting. The doors to the Arts of the Pamlico’s Historic Turnage Theatre will open at 6:30 p.m., followed by the debate at 7 p.m.

The debate will be taped and broadcast by Spectrum News. Spectrum will air the debate in its entirety on its website at www.spectrumlocalnews.com and an abbreviated version on its program, In Focus, on Sunday, Oct. 7 at both 11:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Streaming coverage and online sources will also be available.

The debate will be moderated by Spectrum’s Loretta Boniti, and the panelists are Donald Bryson (President and CEO, Civitas Institute), Kareem Crayton (Executive Director, Southern Coalition for Social Justice), Representative David Lewis (District 53), and Senator Erica Smith (District 3).

The remaining debates in the series will be at the Clayton Center on Oct. 9 and the Gastonia Conference Center on Oct. 16. The first debate was held at the Meroney Theatre in Salisbury on Sept. 25. All the debates are free to the public and start at 7 p.m.
