The victim of a shooting that occurred on Friday night in Washington has been unwilling to share information with police, according to Washington Police and Fire Services Director Stacey Drakeford.

According to police records, the shooting is believed to have occurred in the vicinity of the 600 block of West 12th Street between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

“He showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand, but he didn’t say anything about where it occurred or anything,” Drakeford said. “The guys went back and that’s where they think it occurred, but do not know for sure.”

Drakeford confirmed that a third party drove the victim to Vidant Beaufort Hospital where he was treated for two wounds from what appears to be a small-caliber handgun. The unnamed victim was shot once in the hand and once in his side.

So far, Drakeford says no witnesses have come forward with information regarding the shooting.

“If the victim doesn’t cooperate and there are no witnesses, we don’t know where it happened,” Drakeford said.
